Design and Optimisation of Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine Blades Using Biomimicry of Whale Tubercles

Wind speed is the major factor in generating power a wind turbine. However, due to non-optimum and redundant design of turbine blades, not nearly enough captured for utilization. In present study, modifications were done on leading edge HAWT blade using tubercles showing their effects aerodynamic performances. From this research, following results found concerning performances with leading-edge that; blades will have superior performance post-stall regime by 27%, smaller amplitude lower wavelength produce higher lift drag low condition, tubercle stable smooth varying conditions, producing torque at speed. Using small model, SolidWorks Motion Analysis Simulation was used dynamic modeling evaluate determine force mechanical structure. These compared examined standard which showed an improvement 30% efficiency.
